52 Pick-Up :: Week 35

Week 35 :: Spring cleaning the basement leads to lots of chaos. But we are able to take a moment and smell the roses… or watch the bouncing ball.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 33

Week 33 :: We’ve lived in this house for about eight years. Every spring, this one hyacinth pokes its head out of the ground and says hello. Then, it gets broken by big dog paws or picked by little hands or crushed by getting-bigger-all-the-time boy feet. It never gets a chance to bloom properly. Cross…

52 Pick-Up :: Week 32

Week 32 :: We put in this swing-set when my eight-year-old was two. The kids still love it. Even though I’d like to retire it this year to landscape and plan our yard to be a little more “us”, I don’t see that happening. The swing-set is about as “us” as anything can be.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 31

Week 31 :: The collective hope of no more flakes this season is so powerful. When the weather warmed up for a few days a couple weeks ago, it was as if everyone had won a super prize or had gotten lucky. Stop being a tease, Spring. Let’s get it on.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 30

Week 30 :: I think we’ve been in our backyard once since December. The snow was too deep to trek through and this poor hammock (which should have probably wintered inside) has been covered in snow. But it’s been ridiculously warm here for the past week… So, it must be hammock-climbing, mud season.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 29

Week 29 :: When I don’t plan to run with Scout, my 5-year-old and I take her on a hike before he goes to PM K. Hiking always seems to equal running (for him.) I sometimes think that I should just run everywhere like he does.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 28

Week 28 :: He was so proud to climb this tree. Can you see his sense of accomplishment? A simple moment that makes me proud too.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 27

Week 27 :: I frequently call my husband, Scout’s boyfriend. Their relationship is full of love, affection and is rarely contentious. A man and his dog really is a wonder.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 25

Week 25 :: No need to write anything… he does great.

52 Pick-Up :: Week 24

Week 24 :: This was the longest game of Sorry ever… But it was on our 5th snow day in 3 weeks. Not a bad way to spend time inside. Oh, I won, by the way.
