I needed to create some love on another snow day in our part of the US. Below are some dog-centric valentines I listed on Etsy. Now that I can check those off, it’s time to go create some love with my kids. Have a happy snow day (even if you have no snow!)

I’ll be on vacation this week — family is traveling to Colorado and we’ll be skiing at Copper Mountain (where the fun bride is below that I found on Flickr.) I’m a non-downhill skier, but I made the mistake last year of saying I would take a lesson on this trip. Please wish me luck!

I wanted to show you the other valentines I received from the swap coordinated by Carina at Crow and Canary. First, a sweet vintage valentine from Sandra in Canada. I love that little bandit!

And the lovely, Jody, from Brin and Nohl sent this basket in lieu of a card. I couldn’t be happier! It’s just my style: vintage, rustic and functional!

Valentine Goodness

In my internet travels, I meet fabulous people, varied in their locales and in their craft. I remember the first time I *saw* Allison from Bird Dog Press. It was last May, just after I had attended the National Stationery Show for the first time. She tweeted about what she was having at an NYC eatery and it sounded so phenomenal, I had to let her know. She was kind, funny and made paper goods — what’s not to like?

When I saw Alli’s XOXO card, I had to tweet about it. The colors and use of the vintage woodtype is just beautiful. Alli offered to send me one of my very own and, of course, I said yes! She sent me some extra goodies too in the package and I love every piece she sent. Being a digital printer, I admire letterpress. Just the touch and feel of these paper goods is lovely.

Valentine Card Swap

When you have children, Valentine’s Day usually turns into a holiday for them. Cool by me, as the holiday always made me feel uncomfortable from a romantic perspective (kind of forced and sometimes desperate.) But when I saw this idea from Carina of Crow and Canary, it was the perfect way to celebrate the holiday for me.

I had made a few valentine designs for my Etsy shop, but my favorite by far is the little paper fabric dog with the hand-lined envelope below.

I was hoping that my swappees were dog people, and after a little research, I found out that they were. One person also has children, so I included some personalized color-your-own valentines for her.

A little shout out to one of my favorite things: envelope seals (and a favorite Crow and Canary font.) I think they finish a greeting in a personal, but functional way.

There were over 75 people who signed up for the swap and I hope they had as much fun as I did. Thanks to Carina for creating and organizing such a lovely idea. She expresses it best on her blog, “I quite love the idea of turning an occasion that many people dread, into something that fills our mailboxes with paper goodness!”
